BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Former Alabama men's basketball guard Collin Sexton kept busy on Wednesday, one day prior to the 2018 NBA Draft, which will be held Thursday night at the Barclays Center. Live coverage will begin at 6 p.m. CT (7 p.m. ET) on ESPN.
"Tomorrow is going to be exciting, especially after the draft," Sexton said. "Everybody is looking forward to it. There is so much excitement in the air because it's the day that everybody is waiting for, just to see where you land and see your dreams come true."
Sexton is among the 20 draft invitees who were kept busy throughout the day. After beginning the morning with media and social media training, Sexton was fitted for a cap and had a photo shoot. Sexton then participated in the NBA Draft media day, which including a 30-minute roundtable with reporters, along with individual interviews with local and national television outlets.
After lunch, Sexton was part of a Jr. NBA basketball clinic and NBA Cares packing project, which was held in Basketball City at the South Pier in lower Manhattan. The draftees were split into two groups and took turns coaching kids through a series of basketball drills on one floor, signing autographs and taking photos. In another area, they joined an assembly line to pack bags and create cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas.
"There's more than just basketball out there and it's important to give back and do our part in the community," Sexton said.
Sexton is looking to become the Crimson Tide's first player selected in the first round since 2001 (Gerald Wallace) and the first Alabama player to hear his name called on draft night since 2008 (Richard Hendrix).
