Alabama Track & Field Begins Postseason at SEC Championships this Weekend

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's and women's track & field teams will send 51 athletes (26 men, 25 women) to the 2018 Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, May 11-13, at the University of Tennessee's Tom Black Track in Knoxville, Tenn.
The meet will get underway on Friday at 10 a.m. CT with the women's hammer throw. Running events will begin at 2 p.m. CT with prelims in the women's 800 meters. Saturday's schedule will open at 9:15 a.m. CT with the women's heptathlon long jump. Field events will start at 1 p.m. CT with the men's long jump with running events starting at 5:30 p.m. CT with the women's 100-meter hurdles prelims. Sunday's finals kickoff at 1:30 p.m. CT with the women's high jump. Sunday's first track event will be the women's 4x100-meter relay at 5:02 p.m. CT.

The Alabama men's track & field team is No. 3, and the Crimson Tide women check in at No. 17 in the latest U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) outdoor rankings, released May 7.
How to Follow the SEC Championships
Live results from the SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be available at adkins.trackscoreboard.com. The first two days of competition will be streamed live on SEC Network+ beginning at 10 a.m. CT on Friday and 9:15 a.m. CT on Saturday. The SEC Network will carry Sunday's events live starting at 1:30 p.m. CT.
Head Coach Dan Waters Outlook
"The outdoor regular season went well and we had several strong performances throughout the schedule. The SEC indoor meet showed what this program is capable of but it will take another performance like that one in order to contend for a championship this weekend."
Next Meet
Following the SEC Championships, the Crimson Tide will be off until the 2018 NCAA East Regional, May 24-26, at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla.
