
Former Alabama Women’s Tennis Player Alexa Guarachi Sets to Compete in South American Games

Guarachi will represent Chile in doubles and mixed doubles
COCHABAMBA, Bolivia – Alabama women's tennis alumna Alexa Guarachi is set to represent Chile in the 2018 South American Sports Organization (ODESUR) South American Games in Cochambamba, Bolivia May 26-June 8. Guarachi will compete in doubles with partner Daniela Seguel and mixed doubles with teammate Gonzalo Lama Feliu.
"I am so excited and honored to be representing Chile in the South American Games," Guarachi said. "It is such a unique and great opportunity and I hope to bring home the gold so I can compete in the Pan-American Games next year!"
Guarachi received byes in both doubles and mixed doubles and will begin competition on May 30.
The winners of the doubles and mixed doubles draws will receive an automatic bid into the 2019 Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, and whoever wins the Pan-American Games draws earn an automatic bid to the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
During her time at Alabama, Guarachi earned multiple All-America and All-SEC honors. Guarachi ended her career at the Capstone with 109 victories in singles, which is the most singles wins ever recorded by a player in Alabama history. Furthermore, she wrapped up her doubles campaign with teammate Courtney McLane with 69 wins, which tops the Tide's all-time doubles list.
