TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head women's basketball coach Kristy Curry completed her staff for the upcoming season with the promotion of Brian Johnson and the addition of Brittany Graham. Johnson will move up to director of basketball operations, while Graham will take over the director of video and creative content responsibilities.
"Brian has brought an incredible work ethic, maturity and attention to detail the last two years with our program," said Curry. "He has been an invaluable asset in many areas. We are very excited to elevate him to the position of director of operations."
Johnson recently completed his second season on the Alabama women's basketball staff, serving as the coordinator of player development, recruiting and video operations. While in this role, he was responsible for a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, game and practice film, film exchange and creative content.
"I'm very honored for the opportunity to continue to work with Coach Curry and everyone here at Alabama in this new role," said Johnson. "I also am very thankful to have had the opportunity to learn from one of the best director of basketball operations in the country in Grant Fausset. I look forward to aiding in the building of this program and continuing the success we have had in recent years."
Johnson came to Tuscaloosa after having spent four years as a manager for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers women's basketball team. While in Knoxville, Johnson assisted in several areas of the program throughout his time in Knoxville including operations, video and graphics. From the operations side, he helped coordinate team travel, practices, summer camps and male practice players. Johnson also spent time with the video coordinator filming practice, making highlight videos, preparing scouting reports and uploading game footage for film exchange. In addition, he has experience with creating graphics for social media and recruiting.
Johnson completed his Bachelor of Science in education with a concentration in recreation & sport management and a minor in business administration from the University of Tennessee in 2016.
Graham joins the Crimson Tide staff after having served as digital correspondent for the Big 12 Conference since September 2017. In this role, she helped to create original content while traveling to league institutions to conduct interviews with student-athletes and coaches. Graham also helped provide a digital and social presence at various Big 12 championships and contributed to overall social media strategies.
"Brittany has a diverse spectrum of experiences as an assistant coach, director of operations, digital media specialist and daughter of a coach," Curry said. "We feel that her unique background makes her a tremendous addition to our staff."
Prior to her position with the Big 12, Graham was part of the Denver women's basketball staff as director of operations, which she held from 2015 to 2017. Here, she helped organize social media and community service events for the team while also creating content used for recruiting and managing the team's summer camps. Other professional stops include Berry College and Emory University as an assistant coach and inside sales ticket representative for the Atlanta Dream.
"I'm very excited for this opportunity," said Graham. "I look forward to continuing to build this program and taking it to new heights and learn from Coach Curry and her experienced staff."
Graham earned a master's degree in sports administration and bachelor's degree in English with a minor in journalism, both from Georgia State. She was a member of the Panthers' women's basketball team from 2008-10.
