Crimson Tide earns multiple players all-region accolades for eighth straight season
STILLWATER, Okla. – Alabama senior Lee Hodges and junior Davis Riley were named to the PING All-Region team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced on Saturday. It's the second consecutive year the duo received All-Southeast Region honors and the eighth straight season the Crimson Tide has had multiple representatives earn the recognition.
Riley earned the accolade for the third straight year after garnering all-region honors in 2016 and 2017. In doing so, the Hattiesburg, Miss., native becomes just the fifth player in program history to achieve that feat. The last Tide golfer to do so was Robby Shelton, who was an all-region honoree from 2014-16.
Meanwhile, Hodges claims the honor for a second consecutive year, becoming the 13th player in the Alabama record books to do so.
Together, the duo led the Crimson Tide throughout the season. Hodges and Riley rank as the team's top two golfers on the team in stroke average, average vs. par and top-20 finishes. Golfweek ranks both among the top-30 golfers in the nation, as Hodges is No. 21 and Riley is No. 26 when they entered play at the 2018 NCAA Men's Golf Championships.
Of the 27 players on this year's Southeast All-Region squad, 17 of them hail from the Southeastern Conference.
