
Alabama Softball’s Rachel Bobo and Bailey Hemphill Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Senior Rachel Bobo and sophomore Bailey Hemphill were both named to the 2018 Academic All-District softball team, selected by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District distinction is the first for Bobo and Hemphill, increasing Alabama's all-time total to 45 honorees. The Crimson Tide has had multiple honorees in each of the last three seasons. With their selection, the two advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America voting, which will be announced June 7.
Bobo owns a 3.76 grade point avearge as a chemical engineering major. She is a two-time President's List and three-time Dean's List award recipient. Over her four years in Tuscaloosa, she has appeared in over 80 percent of Alabama's games, helping guide the Tide to four NCAA Tournament appearances, three NCAA Super Regional rounds and a pair of Women's College World series berths.
Hemphill is a human development major with a 4.0 GPA and a three-time President's list honoree. She has started in 107 of the 115 games played over her Crimson Tide career, leading the team in RBIs and walks both seasons. This year, she earned First Team All-SEC accolades.
This week, Alabama begins NCAA Tournament play, hosting the Tuscaloosa regional starting Friday, May 18 at Rhoads Stadium.
