Alabama Rowing Heads to Kansas for Big 12 Double Dual Saturday

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Alabama rowing hits the road this weekend as it travels to Kansas City, Kan., for the Big 12 Double Dual on Saturday, April 7.
The Crimson Tide will be one of four of the league's eight teams that will be in action this weekend alongside Kansas, Tennessee and Kansas State. Alabama will square off against the Jayhawks in the morning and the Wildcats in the afternoon.
"We're expecting a high-level challenge from both Kansas and Kansas State this weekend," UA head coach Larry Davis said. "Based on current forecasts, we will also be challenged by the weather with snow, strong winds and cold temperatures."
Five Alabama boats will race across five events, each competing in both a morning and afternoon session for a total of 10 races. The Tide's First Varsity 8+ kicks the morning session off against the Jayhawks at 9 a.m. CT followed by the Second Varsity 8+ (9:30 a.m. CT), the First Varsity 4+ (10 a.m. CT), the Second Varsity 4+ (10:30 a.m. CT) and the Third Varsity 8+ (11 a.m. CT).
The afternoon session continues for the Tide with the 1V8+ squaring off at 1:15 p.m. CT followed by the 2V8+ (1:45 p.m. CT), 1V4+ (2:15 p.m. CT), 2V4+ (2:45 p.m. CT) and 3V8+ (3:15 p.m. CT).
 "The team is fired up, confident and eager to meet both challenges head on," Davis said.
Despite the setback two weeks ago, the Crimson Tide looks to get back on track and carry over its success found at home as it prepares for three straight regattas on the road, leading up to the Big 12 Conference Championships in May.
Alabama continues its road trip next weekend as it travels to Sacramento, Calif., for the Lake Natoma Invitational on April 14-15.
