
Andie Daniell Earns First Team All-SEC Women's Tennis Honors

Daniell lands on the first-team list for the first time in her career
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama women's tennis junior Andie Daniell was named First Team All-Southeastern Conference on Wednesday, as announced by the league office. Daniell earns the fourth conference honor of her career and becomes the 12th player in program history to be named to the first team.
Daniell earns her first recognition on the first-team list after a scorching-hot spring season at the No. 1 singles position for the Crimson Tide. The Douglasville, Ga., native amassed a team-high 17 wins in singles during the spring season, while totaling 26 overall victories for the 2017-18 season. In doubles, Daniell ended her campaign with 19 wins.
In the latest Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Singles Rankings, Daniell landed a No. 88 with a 6.33 average. Throughout the 2017-18 season, Daniell was featured on the national list nine times, earning her highest rank at No. 86 on April 17 before the SEC Tournament, while landing at No. 37 in the preseason rankings.
Daniell upset three ranked opponent in the spring season. Her first victory over a nationally-recognized singles player came on March 2 when she took down No. 117 Justina Mikulskyte of Kentucky, 7-6(3), 6-2, and she later topped No. 52 Ingrid Gamarra Martins of South Carolina in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, on March 24. Then on April 13, Daniell handled No. 85 Ryann Foster of LSU, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1.
During the fall slate, Daniell defeated No. 45 Lindsey Hodge from Rice University, 6-4, 6-1, while also reaching the semifinal round of the 2017 ITA Southern Regional Championships. Daniell ended the fall with a 9-2 record.
On April 17, Daniell was also named to the 2018 SEC Women's Tennis Community Service Team for her selfless work in the local community by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and at the Black Warrior PT clinic.
After an outstanding freshman campaign (2015-16) Daniell was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year, as well as earning second team all-conference honors and landing on the All-Freshman team.
