Alabama Track & Field to Compete at Auburn and Stanford this Weekend

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's and women's track & field teams will split their squads this weekend with the Tide sprinters and field event athletes visiting Auburn for the War Eagle Invitational and the UA distance squad traveling to Stanford for the Cardinal Classic. Both meets will take place April 20-21.

The Alabama men's track & field team is No. 8, while the Crimson Tide women are up four spots to No. 18 in the latest U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) outdoor rankings, released April 16.
Clark Earns SEC Freshman of the Week Honors for Tom Jones Performance
Alabama track & field's Tamara Clark has been named the Southeastern Conference Women's Freshman of the Week, the league office announced April 17. Clark won the 200 meters at the Tom Jones Invitational on April 13 in 22.57, the third-fastest time in Alabama history and the fourth-fastest time in the country to this point of the season. Her time is the second-fastest among freshmen in 2018. Clark also ran the second leg on the Tide's 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays at the Tom Jones as UA recorded the meet's top collegiate time in the 4x100 at 43.26, and the No. 2 collegiate time in the 4x400 at 3:34.37. The 4x100 relay time is the fifth-fastest in school history.

"With only two competition weekends left before the SEC Championships this week is an important one for us as we begin to turn our focus to the championship portion of the season. Our distance runners will once again face some strong competition at Stanford and the War Eagle Invitational will be a good tune-up for the remainder of our team."
Next Week
The Crimson Tide will visit Baton Rouge for the LSU Invitational on Saturday, April 28. The meet is the final scheduled regular sesaon outing for Alabama prior to the 2018 SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will take place May 11-13 in Knoxville, Tenn.
