Alabama Athletics Places 57 on SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll

The Crimson Tide led all conference women's basketball squads with eight on the winter list
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A total of 57 University of Alabama student-athletes earned a place on the Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey announced Wednesday.
The Crimson Tide led all conference women's basketball squads with eight student-athletes earning a place on the winter honor roll, led by senior Ashley Williams, who finished her career ranked in the top-10 all-time at Alabama in both scoring and rebounding.
Alabama was second among SEC men's swimming and diving teams with 17 honors after finishing 13th at this year's NCAA Championships, led by 2018 SEC Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year Luke Kaliszak.
All 11 members of this year's Alabama gymnastics team eligible by class (student-athletes must be a sophomore or better to earn the accolade) made the list, ranking the Tide second among the league's gymnastics squads, led by 2018 All-Americans Nickie Guerrero and Kiana Winston.
A total of 18 members of the Alabama women's swimming and diving team earned a place on the SEC Academic Honor Roll, led by 2018 senior All-Americans Bailey Scott and Temarie Tomley. The men's basketball squad placed three players on the list, led by Bryant Award finalist Riley Norris.
To earn a place on the honor roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.0 or better grade point average for either the preceding academic year or their career and be a sophomore or better in academic standing. The winter list honors those student-athletes that participate in men's and women's basketball, gymnastics and men's and women's swimming and diving as well as equestrian and rifle.
So far this academic year, Alabama has placed 163 students on the SEC Fall and Winter honor rolls. Additional names will be added to the Tide's tally when the spring and first-year lists comes out later in the spring.
