Alabama Women’s Tennis Q&A: Smith Hinton

RollTide.com will be posting Q&A's of each member on this year's Alabama women's tennis team so fans can get to know the members of our Crimson Tide family. The eighth and final Q&A is with senior Smith Hinton. Hinton hails from Raleigh, N.C., and ranks second on the team in singles with 12 wins and leads the group with nine doubles victories with teammate Jacqueline Pelletier.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your hometown?
A: Raleigh is great because it is very central for a lot of sporting events. It also has a great downtown area with lots of good places to eat!
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Tuscaloosa?
A: Taco Mama. I love all types of Mexican food.
Q: What is your favorite vacation spot?
A: Wrightsville Beach. I love the beach and any warm weather.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: To be a fashion designer.
Q: Who is your hero and why?
A: My mom. She has always encouraged me in everything I do.
Q: What is your favorite spot on campus and why?
A: Starbucks. I really enjoy doing schoolwork there or just hanging out before my next class.
Q: What other sports did you play growing up?
A: I played soccer and basketball.
Q: How old were you when you started playing tennis and how did you get into it?
A: About eight-years old. All of my friends played tennis and I just really enjoyed it. Neither one of my parents played.
Q: What is your favorite thing about playing for Alabama?
A: The fans are awesome! It's so great to play somewhere where you have a big support group.
Q: What is your major and what do you hope to do with it one day?
A: My major is Early Childhood Development and I hope to become a teacher one day.
Q: How many different countries have you traveled to and name a few of your favorites.
A: My favorite country I have visited is Belize.
Q: If you could play another sport in college, what would it be?
A: Volleyball. They look like they are having so much fun out there and I really like how they all hug each other after every point.
Q: What is your favorite holiday and why?
A: Christmas. I really enjoy going home for the holidays and spending time with my family and friends.
Q: What would you like to say to the fans?
A: Thanks for coming and supporting us!
Q: Who is your celebrity crush or favorite actor?
A: My favorite actress is Blake Lively.
Q: What is your favorite food or type of cuisine (i.e. Mexican, Italian, etc.)?
A: My favorite type of food is Mexican.
Q: What are your pre-match rituals?
A: I like to listen to music and relax.
Q: Who is your favorite athlete?
A: Maria Sharapova

A: I really like Taylor Swift.
