Alabama Women’s Golf Off to a One-Shot Lead after the First Round at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

Lauren Stephenson tied for fourth after a two-under par opening round
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Alabama women's golf team is in first place at two-over par after an opening round 286 performance Friday in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the par-71, 6,282-yard Long Cove Club at Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Individually, junior Lauren Stephenson ended the day tied for fourth with a 2-under par 69. Senior Lakareber Abe (71) finished at even par and is tied for 10th. Sophomore Kristen Gillman and junior Cheyenne Knight both carded 2-over par 73s and sit in a tie for 23th. Freshman Angelica Moresco (76) is 5-over par and tied for 53rd place.
Alabama (286) leads after day one at 2-over par, followed by Northwestern (287) at 3-over par. Arkansas (290) is four shots back third at 6-over par while LSU (291) is in fourth place, five shots back at 7-over par. Furman (292) and Mississippi State (292) are tied for fifth at 8-over par.
The second round of the 54-hole tournament will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT on Saturday. Alabama will be paired with Northwestern and Arkansas in round two. Moresco will be first off for the Tide at 9:10 a.m. CT, followed by Knight at 9:20 a.m., Gillman at 9:30 a.m., Abe at 9:40 a.m. and Stephenson at 9:50 a.m.
