Alabama Women’s Golf in Sixth Place after Day One at Evans Derby Experience

Lauren Stephenson tied for fifth place at 3-under par
AUBURN, Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team is in sixth place at even par after an opening round 288 performance Sunday in the Evans Derby Experience at the par-72, 6,280-yard Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala.
Individually, junior Lauren Stephenson ended the day tied for fifth with a 3-under par 69. Freshman Angelica Moresco is tied for 22nd after an even-par 72 on Sunday. Junior Cheyenne Knight is tied for 33rd at 1-over par (73) while senior Lakareber Abe (74) and sophomore Kristen Gillman (74) are tied for 39th at 2-over par. Senior Nicole Morales (76) is playing as an individual this weekend and is tied for 51st at 4-over par.
Florida State (278) holds the first round lead at 10-under par, followed by Arkansas (280) in second place at eight-under par. Auburn (285) and Duke (285) are seven shots off the lead in third at 3-under par. South Carolina (286) is fifth at 2-under par, followed by the Crimson Tide (288) in sixth place at even par.
The second round of the 54-hole tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT on Monday. Alabama will be paired with South Carolina, Florida and Wake Forest in round two.
