Alabama Women’s Golf Travels to Auburn for Evans Derby Experience on Sunday

TUSCALOOSA Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team will return to action March 18-20 at the 2018 Evans Derby Experience at the par-72, 6,280-yard Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala.

Teams competing in this year's Evans Derby Experience include: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Michigan, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Wake Forest.
National Rankings
Alabama boasts two of the nation's top six golfers and four of the top 30 heading into this weekend's action. Lauren Stephenson (second), Kristen Gillman (sixth), Lakareber Abe (27th) and Cheyenne Knight (30th) are ranked in most recent Golfstat NCAA Player Rankings, released March 13. As a team, Alabama enters the weekend ranked No. 2 by Golfstat and leads the nation in scoring average at 70.89. Stephenson and Gillman are ranked No. 2 and No. 9, respectively in the most-recent Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index with Knight (27th) and Abe (29th) also appearing in the ratings. Alabama (69.83) checks in at No. 2 in the Golfweek/Sagarin team rankings released March 12.
Stephenson and Gillman Named to U.S. Palmer Cup Team
Alabama junior Lauren Stephenson and sophomore Kristen Gillman are among 12 women's collegiate golfers named to the United States Palmer Cup team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced March 14. The duo will be joined by UA men's golfer Davis Riley on the combined men's and women's team that will compete in the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup, July 6-8, at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France. The 24-person (12 men, 12 women) U.S. squad will compete against a team of international college golfers that includes 2018 Alabama women's golf signee Jiwon Jeon of South Korea.
