No. 38 Alabama Men’s Tennis Drops Home Match to No. 15 Mississippi State, 4-0

The Crimson Tide will try and earn its first SEC win on Sunday versus Auburn
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 38 Alabama men's tennis team fell to No. 15 Mississippi State at the Alabama Tennis Stadium on Friday night.
"Tremendous energy and enthusiasm for tonight's match," head coach George Husack said. "This was exactly what we needed to prepare us for the weekend. It's matches like these that make us a lot better. I have a lot of respect for Mississippi State and what they've done. They're a tough team, but we gave them all they could handle and we were right there. So we have to get some good recovery and rest and come right back out with the same intensity against Auburn on Sunday."
With the loss, the Crimson Tide drops to 14-5 on the season and 0-4 in SEC play, while the Bulldogs improve to 10-1 and 4-0 in SEC competition.
The Tide started the night well with a doubles win from sophomore Zhe Zhou and freshman Riccardo Roberto over the No. 59 doubles pair in the country in Foshey/Broska, 6-2. The Bulldogs answered back with the final two victories in doubles play to go up 1-0.
In singles action, MSU continued to put the pressure on UA after No. 4 Nuno Borges defeated No. 92 junior Mazen Osama, 6-2, 6-4 to extend the lead to 2-0. Later on, Florian Broska dropped sophomore Alexey Nesterov, 6-4, 7-5 to make it 3-0.
The Bulldogs clinched the match when No. 23 Giovanni Oradini defeated Thibault Cancel, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
The Crimson Tide will return to action on Sunday, Mar. 18 with a matchup against rival Auburn. Alabama will play outdoors in the Alabama Tennis Stadium, with the match beginning at 1 p.m. CT.
