The Crimson Tide will celebrate the careers of seniors Mackenzie Brannan, Nickie Guerrero, Jennie Loeb and Kiana Winston
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 6-ranked Alabama gymnastics team faces No. 1 Oklahoma Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum for the Crimson Tide's regular-season finale.
In addition to being Alabama's final dual meet of 2018, Friday is also Senior Night for Dana Duckworth's first freshman class as the Tide's head coach. Alabama will celebrate Mackenzie Brannan, Nickie Guerrero, Jennie Loeb and Kiana Winston during the night.
Between them, the four seniors have earned 15 All-America honors, 12 Scholastic All-America honors and have led Alabama to a Southeastern Conference team title, a pair of NCAA Regional championships and three NCAA Super Six Team Finals appearances. Winston graduated with her degree in psychology in December 2017, while Brannan, Guerrero and Loeb are all slated to graduate this May.
"Senior night is a beautiful celebration of four years of hard work, dedication, sacrifice and resilience," Duckworth said. "For our team, I want them to go out there and stay in their 'Bama bubble,' compete and have fun."
Alabama and Oklahoma have tallied nine NCAA titles between them, with the Tide winning, six, including back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012, while Oklahoma has won three and is the two-time defending champion.
Friday is Alabama's 11th meet overall and third non-conference meet of 2018. It is Oklahoma's 10th meet of the season and its fifth road meet of 2018 and first since Feb. 16. Alabama earned a season-best 197.525 against North Carolina on March 2, while the Sooners posted a season-best 198.375 in a home meet against Michigan on March 3.
In support of Duckworth's childhood literacy philanthropy, ReadBAMARead, fans will be able to exchange a new or lightly used book for $3 admission to Friday's meet. ReadBAMARead will also present a check for $1,000 work of library books to Holy Spirit Elementary School during the meet for winning the attendance prize at the UA-North Carolina meet earlier in the season.
Tickets for Tide home meets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262), located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, and online at RollTide.com
