Twelve Alabama Track & Field Student-Athletes Earn Indoor All-America Honors

Stacey Destin, Kord Ferguson, Daniel Haugh, Vincent Kiprop and Shelby McEwen earn first-team honors for performances at the NCAA championships
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Twelve members of the Alabama track & field team earned All-America honors in 10 events at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships March 9-10 in College Station, Texas, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Monday.
Four men earned individual first-team honors, including junior Kord Ferguson (sixth/shot put), senior Daniel Haugh (fourth/weight throw), junior Vincent Kiprop (second/5,000 meters) and junior Shelby McEwen (third/high jump).
Second-team awards went to junior Gilbert Kigen (10th/5,000 meters) and senior Ruebin Walters (13th/60-meter hurdles).
Junior Stacey Destin earned first-team honors in the high jump (sixth) and second-team honors in the pentathlon (10th) for the Crimson Tide women. Five other members of the Tide women's team also earned second-team selection, including freshman Tamara Clark (16th/4x400-meter relay), sophomore Symone Darius (16th/4x400-meter relay), freshman Daija Lampkin (16th/200 Meters; 16th/4x400-meter relay), junior Mauricia Prieto (16th/4x400-meter relay) and junior Portious Warren (11th/shot put).
Destin earned double All-America honors for the second season in a row. She was a first-team selection in the high jump and pentathlon in 2017.
Alabama will open the 2018 outdoor season March 16-17 at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
