Crimson Tide begin second half of 2017-18 campaign in California on Sunday
TUSCALOOSA Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team kicks off the spring portion of the 2017-18 season at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, Feb. 11-13, at the par-71, 6,017-yard Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.

Teams competing in this year's Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge include: Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Duke, Florida, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, San Diego State, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA, UNLV, USC, Wake Forest and Washington.
National Rankings
Alabama boasts two of the nation's top seven golfers and four of the top 54 heading into this weekend's action. Lauren Stephenson (first), Kristen Gillman (seventh), Cheyenne Knight (32nd) and Lakareber Abe (54th) are ranked in most recent Golfstat NCAA Player Rankings, released Feb. 6. As a team, Alabama ended the fall ranked No. 3 by Golfstat and led the nation in scoring average at 70.31.Stephenson and Gilman are ranked No. 2 and No. 7, respectively in the most-recent Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index with Knight (34th) and Abe (61st) also appearing in the ratings. Alabama (69.70) checks in at No. 2 in the Golfweek/Sagarin team rankings released Feb. 5.
Stephenson and Gillman Ranked Among Top Five in Latest Palmer Cup Rankings
Alabama junior Lauren Stephenson is ranked No. 1 and Tide sophomore Kristen Gillman is No. 5 in the first Arnold Palmer Cup Rankings of the spring season, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Feb. 8. The duo are in contention for spots on the United States team that will participate in the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup, July 6-8, at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France.
The top six women's collegiate golfers in the final spring rankings will join the top six-ranked men's collegiate golfers as part of the 24-player United States squad that will compete against a team of international college golfers.
