The Alabama men's track & field team is ranked No. 5, while the Crimson Tide women are No. 17 in the latest U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regular-season indoor rankings released Feb. 5.
McEwen Named SEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Alabama junior Shelby McEwen has been named the Southeastern Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Feb. 5. McEwen won the high jump at the New Mexico Classic in Albuquerque, N.M., on Feb. 2 with a clearance of 7-4 ¼ (2.24m), a mark that currently ranks No. 5 nationally, No. 2 in the SEC and second all-time in Alabama indoor history.
Alabama among NCAA Leaders
Entering this weekend, Alabama currently has seven athletes (three men, four women) ranked in the top 16 in eight events, which would earn them qualification into the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships March 9-10 in College Station, Texas. Head Coach Dan Waters Outlook
"This is an atypical week with our teams split between three meets around the country. But with this being our last regularly-scheduled meet weekend before the SEC Championships, we want to give all of our athletes an optimal level of competition as we approach the championship portion of our schedule."
Next Week
Alabama will be off next weekend in advance of the Southeastern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, Feb. 24-25, in College Station, Texas.
