It will be the Crimson Tide’s eighth meet of the season, fourth road meet, and the first of four consecutive meets within the state of Alabama
AUBURN, Ala. – This Friday, No. 7 Alabama gymnastics team starts a four-meet tour of the state of Alabama at No. 16 Auburn.
Following the meet against the Tigers Alabama will face North Carolina (March 2) and Oklahoma (March 24) at home in Coleman Coliseum and will face Auburn in Huntsville, Ala. The Tide will also host the 2018 NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional on April 7 giving the Tide five of its next six meets in the state of Alabama.
"This portion of our schedule allows our fans, no matter where they are in the state, to come and watch our ladies compete," UA head coach Dana Duckworth said. "And no matter where we are, our fans make a huge difference for us."
Friday's meet will be broadcast live on the SEC Network at 7:30 p.m. CT.
The Crimson Tide will also have to continue to grow and utilize its depth through this last portion of the season following a season-ending injury to senior Mackenzie Brannan during last Sunday's practice. Brannan had been a standout in the Tide's uneven bars lineup this season, scoring a season-best 9.925 against Kentucky.
"Our first priority is always the student-athlete and what's in the best interest of their health and safety," Duckworth said. "These extraordinary women will always push themselves because they are champions and are wired to pursue excellence with no regrets. We will miss Mack Brannan, but we are confident that her teammates will step in for her and have her back just the way she's had theirs throughout her career."
Following the meet at Auburn, Alabama returns home Friday, March 2 against North Carolina at 7:30 p.m. It will be the Tide's first non-conference meet since the first week of the season and UA's first non-SEC meet in Coleman Coliseum this season. Tickets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262), located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, and online at RollTide.com
