12th Annual 5th Grade Fastbreak Game Set for Wednesday Versus South Alabama

The Crimson Tide will play the Jaguars at 11:30 a.m. CT inside Coleman Coliseum
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Crimson Tide (5-3) hosts its 12th annual 5th Grade Fastbreak game against South Alabama on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. CT inside Coleman Coliseum. Alabama is coming off a two-game skid in the Arizona State Classic, while the Jaguars (6-0) are undefeated to start the season.

THE BROADCAST
• Wednesday's game will stream live on SEC Network + via the WatchESPN app. Eli Gold (play-by-play) and Rick Moody (analyst) will be on the call and will be joined by sideline reporter Eryn Cooper.
• The game can also be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network on 93.3 FM in Tuscaloosa with Roger Hoover on the broadcast.
OPENING TIP
• The Crimson Tide returns back home to start its second three-game home stand of the season when it takes on South Alabama on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 11:30 a.m. CT for the 12th annual 5th Grade Fastbreak game.
• Alabama currently holds a 39-game home win streak against non-conference opponents dating back to the 2014-15 season.
• The Crimson Tide (5-3) is coming off two-straight losses at the Arizona State against Tulsa, 80-73 (12/1) and then versus Louisiana Tech (12/2), while South Alabama is 6-0 for only the second time in program history.
• Alabama leads the all-time series 21-4, however, the two programs have not met since 2005. USA has won the last two meetings and the Tide last defeated the Jaguars, 63-61, on Dec. 9, 2001 in Tuscaloosa. UA is 11-0 at home all-time against USA.
ALABAMA VS. SUN BELT
• The Crimson Tide is 67-11 against current Sun Belt Conference teams.
• Alabama is 33-6 at home versus current Sun Belt squads.
ABOUT SOUTH ALABAMA
• The Jaguars are 6-0 and most recently picked up a 78-56 road win against Tennessee State (11/29) in Nashville.
• South has four different players averaging double-digit points so far this season, Shaforia Kines (15.4 ppg), Antoinette Lewis (13.3 ppg), Savannah Jones (12.8 ppg), Damaya Telemaque (11.5 ppg).
• In 2017-18 the Jaguars finished with a 21-13 mark, including a 11-7 record in the Sun Belt.
NEWS AND NOTES
• Head coach Kristy Curry is just two wins away from reaching another coaching milestone with 400 wins in her career. Curry ranks 4th in the SEC among active coaches in career wins and is just 11 wins away from her 100th victory at Alabama.
• Junior Jasmine Walker has made significant strides through eight games this season with the Tide. The Montgomery, Ala. native, currently leads the team in points and rebounds with 12.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Walker also leads the team with two double-doubles this season.
• 2018 NJCAA Player of the Year Cierra Johnson has taken some time to get adjusted to the play of Division I competition, only averaging nine points per game through the first three games. However, the junior has scored in double digits in each of the last five games and was named to the Arizona State Classic All-Tournament Team.
• Alabama is the 11th-youngest team in country with an average age of 19.46 on the 2018-19 squad. The six true freshmen on the Tide is tied for sixth-most in the country.
