The Crimson Tide joins Georgia and Oklahoma as finalists for national offensive line of the year award
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama offensive line has been selected as one of three finalists for the Joe Moore Award, the Foundation for Teamwork announced Tuesday. The Joe Moore Award is presented annually to the nation's top offensive line unit. Alabama is joined by Georgia and Oklahoma as finalists.
The Alabama offensive line has paved the way for one of the most prolific offenses in school history this season. The Tide attack has posted 11 games of 500+ total yards this season, the most in the Football Bowl Subdivision. UA leads the SEC and is second nationally in scoring offense at 47.9 points per game. UA also leads the league and ranks No. 7 in the country in total offense, averaging 527.6 yards per game, which is on pace to shatter the school record. Alabama is seventh in the country in passing offense at 325.5 yards per contest and ranks 10th in the Football Bowl Subdivision in sacks allowed at just 1.0 per game.
The award is named after Joe Moore, widely regarded as one of the best offensive line coaches in college football history and is the only major college football award to honor a unit. The award annually recognizes the nation's most outstanding offensive line unit that best displays toughness, effort, teamwork, physicality, tone setting and finishing. Alabama previously won the award in 2015. The winner of the 2018 award will be announced in late December.
