
Crimson Tide Falls in Second Game of ASU Classic Against Louisiana Tech, 79-62

Alabama will return home to take on South Alabama on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. CT
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Alabama women's basketball team fell in its second and final game in the Arizona State Classic to Louisiana Tech, 79-62, inside Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Ariz., on Sunday. With the loss the Crimson Tide falls to 5-3, while the Lady Techsters improve to 5-3.
Junior Cierra Johnson led the Tide with 15 points and four assists and was named to the all-tournament team, while senior Shaquera Wade finished with 13 points. Freshman De'Sha Benjamin had 11 points and freshman Allie Craig Cruce ended the day with 10 points for UA.
The Crimson Tide fell behind early in the contest after Louisiana Tech jumped out to a 22-11 lead at the end of the first period. The two sides traded baskets in the second quarter as the Lady Techsters held the 39-27 lead at the half.
The Tide fought back in the beginning of the second half, using a quick 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 39-34 with 8:13 to go in the third. Louisiana Tech responded by outscoring UA 18-5 for the remainder of the quarter and took the 57-39 advantage into the final 10 minutes of play.
In the fourth, the Lady Techsters continued to control the ball and knock down shots en route to the 79-62 victory.
Alabama shot 33 percent (21-of-63) for the game, while the Lady Techsters made 47 percent (31-of-66) of their shots in the contest.
Next up, the Crimson Tide will return home for another three-game home stand when it begins play on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 11:30 a.m. CT against South Alabama inside Coleman Coliseum. Wednesday's matchup is the annual 5th Grade Fastbreak game and will be broadcast on SEC Network +.
