SEC West Champs
Congratulations to our football team for clinching the SEC Western Division title last weekend with its 29-0 win at LSU! Before heading over to Atlanta for the championship game, however, we've got three more home matchups in Bryant-Denny Stadium, beginning with this weekend's tilt against Mississippi State, which will also be our #BamaSalute game. There's a full day of activities surrounding the game, so come early!
Men's and Women's Basketball Seasons Underway
Our basketball teams are both off to great starts after winning their respective season openers as the men topped Southern, 82-62, and the women bested Southeastern Louisiana, 88-40. Coach Avery Johnson's squad will be back in action at home on Sunday at 6 p.m., hosting Appalachian State at Coleman Coliseum, while Coach Kristy Curry's team hits the road for a pair of matchups at Utah and SMU.
Shallon Olsen Claims Silver on Vault at World Championships
Congratulations to gymnast Shallon Olsen for earning a silver medal on vault at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships last week. She is the first woman from Canada to earn a vault medal at the World Championships. Way to go Shallon!
Rowing Closes Fall Season with Gold Medal
Our rowing team, under the direction of first-year head coach Glenn Putyrae, finished its fall season on a high note, winning a gold medal in the women's open 8+ at the Head of the Hooch. Overall, we had nine top-10 finishes in Chattanooga.
Swimmer Robert Howard Earns Spot on US National Team
Caps off to swimmer Robert Howard for being named to the United States National Team. Robert will compete as a member of Team USA at the summer 2019 World University Games in Naples, Italy. Congratulations, Robert!
Soccer Places Three on Academic All-District Team

Cross Country Heads to NCAA South Regional
Best of luck to our cross country teams as they head to Tallahassee for the NCAA South Regional. The women's race gets underway at 7:30 a.m. CT on Friday, while the men's race follows at 8:30 a.m. CT.
Reminder: Clear Bag Policy Extended to All Ticketed Events
Our clear bag policy, which has been used at Bryant-Denny Stadium for the past three seasons, has been extended to all ticketed athletic events. This will assist in moving people through the gates faster with bag checks and also enhances public safety.
Beat Auburn Beat Hunger Rolls On
The University's Beat Auburn Beat Hunger campaign comes to a close next week and Alabama Athletics and our amazing fans have really pitched in during collection drives that included our volleyball games vs. Ole Miss in late October and the home openers for both men's basketball and women's basketball earlier this week. Beat Auburn Beat Hunger is an amazing cause, and we are proud to be a part of it. There's still time to be a part of this year's drive, which benefits the West Alabama Food Bank. The red collections barrels are all over campus and online donations are also being accepted, with $1 equaling two pounds of food.
Built By Bama: Alex Accetta
Last week, we recognized Alex Accetta, operations coordinator for men's basketball, as our Built By Bama Service Award winner for the month of October. Alex embodies what this award stands for as she is extremely hardworking and does so with the most positive of attitudes day-in and day-out. We are certainly very proud to have Alex here on staff at Alabama and were honored to recognize her for everything she does for the Crimson Tide.
Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund
The Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund provides annual scholarship support for University of Alabama student-athletes. Did you know that in fiscal year 2018, 60 percent of gifts to the CTSF were between $5 and $250? Small gifts add up to make a big difference. Donations of every size are investments in the future of our student-athletes, allowing them to compete for championships while earning a degree at one of the nation's finest institutions of higher learning. For more information about the CTSF, or to make a donation, visit crimsontidefoundation.org.
University Spotlight
The University of Alabama has been, and will continue, celebrating Veterans Week through Sunday with a number of events on campus. This week of celebration is organized annually by UA's Office of Veterans and Military Affairs.
#RollTideFriday
We've got two more great photos to share with you this week from our many #RollTideFriday submissions. The first comes to us from Gaylon McAlpine on a family trip to The Alamo, and secondly, one from all the way in Jerusalem submitted by Susan Johnson.
