Former Alabama players continue dominant performances on both sides of the ball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The eighth week of the 2018-19 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week eight by former Crimson Tide players currently playing in the NFL.
C.J. Mosley put together another standout game, leading Baltimore in tackles with 11 in the Ravens' 36-21 loss to the Carolina Panthers. With the effort, Mosley now leads the Ravens in total tackles on the season at 53. Also standing out at linebacker was Mark Barron of the Los Angeles Rams. Barron finished his day with six tackles, including one for a loss, to help the Rams improve to a franchise-best mark of 8-0 with a 29-27 win over the Green Bay Packers.
Up front in the trenches, Marcell Dareus impressed for the Jaguars. The veteran tackle collected five stops, including one sack, while also forcing a fumble in Jacksonville's 28-14 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. On the offensive side of the ball for the Jags, running back T.J. Yeldon carried two times for seven yards but really shined in the passing game, recording a team-high seven catches for 83 total yards.
Houston received another strong effort from veteran safety Kareem Jackson in the Texans' 42-23 win over the Miami Dolphins, with Jackson contributing nine tackles. In that same game, Dolphins' running back Kenyan Drake continued his stellar play from the backfield. Drake carried 12 times for 58 yards and a touchdown on the ground while also notching a score through the air, part of his two catches for 37 yards.
O.J. Howard caught four passes for 68 yards and added his third touchdown of the season in Tampa Bay's 37-34 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Howard's 68 yards marked sixth game this season the second-year tight end has totaled 50-plus yards receiving. Also standing out in the NFC South was Mark Ingram II of the Saints. Ingram II rushed for a team-leading 63 yards on 13 carries while adding three receptions for 29 yards in New Orleans' 30-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
