Former Alabama players provide strong performances on both sides of the ball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The fourth week of the 2018-19 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently playing in the NFL during week four.
A trio of former Alabama defensive backs picked off passes last Sunday, with Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Eddie Jackson and Minkah Fitzpatrick all recording an interception. Clinton-Dix contributed to the Green Bay Packers' 22-0 shutout against the Buffalo Bills, tallying three tackles to go with his pick. The interception is his third in as many games and ties him for the league lead.
Jackson had another strong performance in the secondary, helping lift the Chicago Bears to a 48-10 victory over Tampa Bay. In the win, Jackson collected three total tackles in addition to his pick. Also intercepting a pass was Fitzpatrick in the Miami Dolphins' loss to the New England Patriots. Fitzpatrick added 10 total tackles to his day, which tied for second on the team, to go with his first career interception.
Landon Collins put forth a solid effort in the Giants' loss to the New Orleans Saints. Collins broke up a pass and combined for 14 tackles to lead New York in that category. His performance against the Saints tied Collins for first on the team in tackles this season at 30.
The Atlanta Falcons receiving duo of Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones continued to shine in week four. Ridley caught four passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns, while Jones hauled in nine receptions for 173 yards in a 37-36 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Ridley's September earned him NFL Rookie of the Month thanks to a league-leading six touchdown receptions and 264 total yards receiving while Jones'173 yards last Sunday pushed him into the league lead for receiving yards at 502 through four games.
Wide Receiver Amari Cooper played big role in the Los Angeles Raiders first win of the season as they topped the Cleveland Browns, 45-42. Cooper caught eight passes for 128 yards and a touchdown in the overtime victory.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon contributed both on the ground and through the air, accounting for two of Jacksonville's three touchdowns on the day. Yeldon ran for 52 yards and score while adding three receptions for 48 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown which helped lead Jacksonville to a 31-12 win over the New York Jets.
