Alabama Finishes Up Exhibition Play Against Mississippi College on Thursday

The Crimson Tide will take on the Lady Choctaws at 7 p.m. on Thursday inside Coleman Coliseum
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team will play its second and final exhibition of the season when it hosts Mississippi College at Coleman Coliseum on Thursday. Tip is slated for 7 p.m. CT, and admission is free. The Crimson Tide opens its regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at home against Southeastern Louisiana.
OPENING TIP
- This is the first-ever exhibition meeting between the Crimson Tide and Lady Choctaws and the first time the two teams have matched up in 31 years. The exhibition marks the second preseason game for Alabama.
- The last time the Tide and Lady Choctaws played each other was on March 2, 1987, when UA won 83-60 on the road in Clinton, Miss.
- Alabama has gone 6-0 in exhibitions under head coach Kristy Curry.
- Alabama returns just 41 percent of its scoring from a season ago after graduating six seniors from a season ago.
- The Crimson Tide has added a plethora of talent in six highly-touted freshmen, and NJCAA Player of the Year, Cierra Johnson.
- Five of the six Alabama freshmen have won at least one state championship in their high school career, while all six have played for a state title.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Crimson Tide opened the 2018-19 preseason by hitting the century mark with a 100-44 exhibition win over Faulkner on Sunday, Oct. 21.
- Five different Alabama players scored in double figures, while 12 players scored in the win.
- Junior Cierra Johnson finished the night with 15 points, six assists and six rebounds, while freshman Allie Craig Cruce ended the game with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor. Junior Jasmine Walker had 14 points and five rebounds, while junior Ashley Knight and freshman De'Sha Benjamin each had 10 points apiece.
- The Alabama bench outscored Faulkner 51-23, while pouring in 31 points off of 26 Lady Eagles turnovers.
IN THE RECORD BOOKS
- Junior Ashley Knight is just 39 blocks away from breaking Alabama's all-time block record, with 149 blocks in her career. Last year she finished No. 4 in the Tide record books with 59 blocks in a single-season. Knight still holds the single-season record for blocks with 90 in 2016-17.
- Knight also currently holds the highest career field goal percentage (.561 – min. 295 attempts) in Alabama history. The Austin, Texas native, has made 166-of-296 attempts in her two-year career.
- Junior point guard Jordan Lewis is currently sitting at No. 7 all-time at Alabama in career assists per game with 3.9 in her two-year stint with the Tide. Lewis also came in at No. 8 in the UA record books in single-season assists with 154 during the 2016-17 season.
ABOUT MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
- Thursday's exhibition marks the second of the week for the Lady Choctaws, as Mississippi College fell in its preseason matchup against Southern Miss on Monday, 65-36.
- Last year, Mississippi College ended the season with a 9-17 record and a 4-15 mark in the Division II Gulf South Conference.
- The Lady Choctaws return eight players that were on the 2017-18 squad, including Lauran Sheriff who was second on the team in scoring in her debut season, averaging 10.3 points and 5.8 rebounds in 2017-18.
