Former Alabama players excelling on both sides of the ball in week six
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The sixth week of the 2018-19 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week six by former Crimson Tide players currently playing in the NFL.
Green Bay Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix continued his string of strong performances Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers. Clinton-Dix combined for three tackles and forced a fumble to help the Packers beat the 49ers, 33-30.
Atlanta Falcons' wide receiver duo of Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley both provided solid efforts through the air on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jones caught 10 passes for 143 yards while Ridley hauled in three passes for 47 yards. With his performance in Atlanta's 34-29 win over the Bucs, Jones ranks second in the NFL for receiving yards.
Despite his team's losing effort, Tampa Bay tight end O.J. Howard caught four passes for 62 yards including a touchdown. Howard has been a consistent threat when he is healthy, recording 50-plus yards receiving in each of his four starts.
Kareem Jackson had another big game for the Houston Texans. The safety recorded three tackles and broke up three passes while adding an interception for a second consecutive week. Jackson's play of the day came when he intercepted Bills quarterback Nate Peterman with 25 seconds left in the game. The pick sealed the win for the Texans over the Buffalo Bills, 20-13. Also picking off a pass was New England Patriots' linebacker Dont'a Hightower, adding two tackles on the night in the Pats' 43-40 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Safety Landon Collins had a big day for the New York Giants. In a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, he recorded a team-high 10 total tackles. His efforts moved Collins into the top 15 for tackles in the league thus far.
