
Andie Daniell Leads the Way in Day Two at ITA Southern Regional Championships

No. 70 Daniell advanced to the quarterfinals in singles and semifinals with partner Moka Ito in doubles
OXFORD, Miss. – Senior Andie Daniell and sophomore Moka Ito advanced to the semifinals in doubles after winning two matches at the ITA Southern Regional Championships in Oxford, Miss., on Saturday.
No. 6 seed Daniell/Ito bested Braun/Rentouli (Mississippi State), 8-4, before defeating Vrbenska/Sanford (Ole Miss), 8-5, to move on to the semifinals. The tandem will match up with No. 31 and No. 2 seed in the tournament, Bortles/de Jong (Ole Miss), tomorrow at 8 a.m. CT for a spot in the finals.
In singles play, No. 5 seed Daniell cruised to a 6-0, 6-1, victory over No. 12 seed Magda Adaloglou (Mississippi State), and will advance to the quarterfinals to take on No. 53 and No. 4 seed in the tournament, Sabina Machalova (Ole Miss), on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT.
In singles consolation, junior Jacqueline Pelletier dominated No. 8 seed Tanit Lopez (Southern Miss), 6-0, 6-0, and then moved past Giovanna Fioretti (McNeese State), 6-3, 6-0, to earn a spot in the semifinals of the consolation draw.
