The Crimson Tide receives national votes after a 3-0 weekend to remain undefeated
TEMPE, Ariz. – After starting the 2018 season with its best start since 2009, the Alabama women's tennis team received votes in the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Women's Division I National Team Rankings on Wednesday, as announced by the association.
The recognition comes after a 3-0 record over the weekend, where the Crimson Tide kicked things off with an upset-win over UCF on the road, who also received national votes in last week's team rankings. Alabama then capped the weekend in shutout fashion, blanking Belmont, 7-0, and in-state foe UAB, 4-0, in a Sunday doubleheader to improve to 7-0 on the season.
A national rankings panel voted on the Top 25 teams and will do so up to the ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championships in February. Upon the conclusion of the two national events, team rankings will transition to the computerized system.
Up next, the Crimson Tide will host another pair of matches on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility. Alabama will first face Chattanooga at 10 a.m. CT and will finish the day playing Alabama A&M at 4 p.m. CT.
