Alabama Swimming and Diving Continues to Rank among Nation’s Best in the Classroom

Both the Crimson Tide men and women earned fall team grade point averages above 3.5
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's and women's swimming and diving squads were both honored as Scholar All-America teams for the fall semester the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced this week.
The Crimson Tide men garnered the honor after earning a 3.61 team grade point average, while the women posted a 3.51 team GPA.
"We are very pleased with the accomplishments of our men and women both in the classroom and in the pool this fall," UA head coach Dennis Pursley said. "Our mission is to build a culture of excellence that will enable the team and each individual on the team to achieve his or her full potential in the pool, in the classroom and in life. We are proud of the way that this team has embraced this challenge."
The men's average ranks No. 1 among teams that finished in the top-25 last season and in the Southeastern Conference and third among all NCAA Division I teams. The UA women were third among SEC programs and 10th among teams that scored at last year's NCAA Championships.
The Alabama men's tally included nine student-athletes that earned 4.0 GPAs last semester and 14 that earned between a 3.6 and a 3.9 GPA in the fall. Overall, 28 Tide men earned better than a 3.25 GPA in the fall.
On the women's side of the slate, seven student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA in the fall and an additional 12 earned between a 3.5 and 3.9. Overall, 30 UA women earned better than a 3.25 GPA in the fall.
