The Crimson Tide practiced for roughly 90 minutes before taking part in a five-inning intrasquad scrimmage
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama baseball team had its first full team practice of the spring on Friday afternoon with a scrimmage following the workout.
Practice opened at 2:30 p.m. CT with the Crimson Tide focusing on fundamentals for 90 minutes before the team squared off in a five-inning intrasquad scrimmage. The day concluded with head coach Brad Bohannon along with the junior right-handed pitcher/outfielder Sam Finnerty and senior infielder Hunter Alexander talking with the media.
"We had a good first day, and I really liked to see the energy we had out there," said Bohannon. "We threw a bunch of strikes and defended the field at a high level. For the first time facing live pitching, we had a lot of good, hard contact and put together really good at-bats. I was very pleased with the overall effort we showed and it was a good day all around."
Alabama is scheduled for a pair of scrimmages of Saturday and Sunday to wrap up the weekend. Saturday's first pitch of the scrimmage is set for 11:15 a.m. CT with Sunday's start still to be determined.
All practices and scrimmages during the spring are open to fans wishing to watch. Those who plan to attend are asked to enter through Gate 3 (located directly behind home plate) and to remain on the main concourse for seating.
