Alabama Track & Field’s Daniel Haugh Named SEC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

Tide senior honored after meet record performance at season-opening UAB Blazer Invitational
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama senior Daniel Haugh was named the Southeastern Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Haugh opened the 2018 season with a meet-record performance, winning the weight throw at the UAB Blazer Invitational last Friday with a toss of 71-10 (21.89m) on his final attempt of the competition. The mark currently ranks No. 2 nationally and leads the SEC. He also had two other throws on Friday that would rank in the top-15 nationally.
Haugh is the defending SEC champion and the school record-holder in the event. The Marietta, Ga., native also holds the top-10 throws in school history.
The Crimson Tide will return to action this weekend at the Vanderbilt Invitational, Jan. 19-20, in Nashville, Tenn.
