TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's soccer team and head coach Wes Hart picked up a great addition to the program Thursday with the addition of sophomore transfer from Troy University, Nicole Strahl.
"I am very excited to add Nicole to the Alabama soccer family," said coach Hart. "She's an accomplished local player, having played club and high school soccer in Birmingham. She was the starting center back and captain at Troy University last fall. Nicole has tremendous ability in the air and adds quality depth, along with leadership to our team."
Strahl started in 16 games and played 1,313 minutes during the 2017 season for the Trojans. Despite spending most of her time in the backfield, Strahl notched in one goal and put up six shots on the season.
During her 2016 freshman campaign, Strahl played in 15 games and started in 14, which was the second-most games amongst freshman on the team. The Birmingham, Ala., native became one of the most reliable defenders in the Sun Belt Conference, as a member of the back line that posted a 1.05 goals against average, the third best average in program history. On Oct. 16, Strahl scored her first career goal against Texas State, which paved the way for the Trojans to defeat Texas State, 2-1.
