For the second consecutive week, the Crimson Tide receives national recognition following its 5-1 start to season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama soccer moved up two spots to No. 22 in the nation in Soccer America's Week Three Women's College Top 25 rankings, which was released Tuesday. The national ranking comes after the Crimson Tide's 5-1 start to the season, including its second shutout of the season over Troy.
For the second consecutive week, the Tide was also among several other teams that received votes on TopDrawerSoccer.com and NSCAA's top-25 rankings. Furthermore, Alabama remained at No. 8 in the NSCAA Southeast Regional poll.
Alabama started the season with a 5-1 record, including wins over Jacksonville State and Samford in week one, then-No. 6/4 Florida State in week two and South Alabama and Troy in week three. The Tide suffered its lone loss to South Florida, 2-1, in overtime.
Alabama first appeared on the Soccer America rankings list after outlasting Florida State by one goal off the foot of Taylor Morgan who netted the first game-winner of her career. The triumph marked the first time Alabama defeated a top-10 ranked opponent and is the second win over an ACC team in school history.
Alabama will travel to Kennesaw, Ga. to play Kennesaw State on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. CT at the Fifth Third Bank Stadium and will return to Tuscaloosa on Sunday, Sept. 10 to face Tennessee Tech at 5 p.m. CT at the Alabama Soccer Complex.
