
Alabama Women’s Golf in Third Place after Round One at Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN, Okla. – The Alabama women's golf team sits in third place after an opening round 3-under par performance in the Schooner Fall Classic at the par-71, 6,046-yard Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla.
Sophomore Kristen Gillman led the Tide on Saturday. Gillman carded the low round for UA, shooting a 3-under par 68 to sit in a tie fifth place. Junior Lauren Stephenson shot a 2-under par 69 to end her day in 12th. Junior Cheyenne Knight shot an even-par 71 and is tied for 18th.
Senior Lakareber Abe finished with a 2-over par 73 and is tied for 34th. Freshman Angelica Moresco finished at 4-over par (75) and is tied for 50th place.
Host Oklahoma tops the team leaderboard after the Sooners fired a 7-under par 277. Texas A&M is one shot back at -6 (278). Alabama is third at 3-under par (281), followed by Florida at even par (284). Clemson is fifth at 1-over par (285).
The second round of the 54-hole tournament will begin at 9:10 a.m. CT on Sunday. Alabama will be paired with Oklahoma and Texas A&M in round two. Moresco will be first off the tee for the Tide at 10:40 a.m. CT, followed by Gillman at 10:50, Abe at 11, Knight at 11:10 and Stephenson at 11:20.
