Alabama Men’s Tennis Completes Day One of Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men's tennis completed day one of the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall at the Alabama Tennis Stadium on Friday. Teams participating in the event include, Mississippi State, Illinois, Florida State, Memphis, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Tulane, and Rice.
The doubles pairing of sophomores Edson Ortiz and Alexey Nesterov, earned Alabama's first doubles victory of the 2017 fall season, defeating Jacob Eskeland and Oscar Janglin of Rice.
Ortiz continued his great play in the round one of the singles draw, dominating Memphis' Turner Voges in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
In the second round of singles, Nesterov bounced back with a three-set win over Oscar Janglin of Rice, 6-1, 1-6, 7-5, to earn his first win of the season. Ortiz went a perfect 3-0 on the day, after handling Nathan Griffin of Notre Dame, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 in the second round of singles play.
The Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall will continue tomorrow with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles. Doubles play is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
