Sixteen-Under Par Day Lands Tide in Third Place after Second Round at Mason Rudolph Championship

Stephenson tied for second, one shot out of individual lead
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Alabama women's golf team moved into third place after a blistering 16-under par 272 during the second round on Saturday at the Mason Rudolph Championship at the par-72, 6,335-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course.
Alabama's second round total, along with the score vs. par are the second-lowest in both categories in program history, behind only the third round 25-under par 263 the Tide shot in the final round of the 2016 Mason Rudolph Championship. UA's 36-hole total (556) ranks No. 3 in school history.
As a team, Alabama (284-272/556) finished the round with 18 birdies and an eagle against just two bogies and stands at 20-under par heading into Sunday's third round. All five Tide golfers finished the round below par.
Junior Lauren Stephenson and sophomore Kristen Gillman again led the Tide on Saturday. Stephenson (68-68/136) turned in a second consecutive 4-under par 68 round to move into a tie for second place at 8-under par, one shot off the individual lead. Gillman (70-69/139) shot a 3-under par 69 and is tied for 10th place at 5-under par. Senior Lakareber Abe (72-67/139) carded a 5-under par round that included an eagle on the par 4, 382-yard 8th hole and joins Gillman in 10th place.
Junior Cheyenne Knight (74-68/142) rebounded from a 2-over par start on Friday to shoot 4-under par on Saturday and is tied for 24th at 2-under par. Freshman Angelica Moresco (77-70/147) stands at 3-over par and is tied for 47th place.
Arkansas (273-277/550) remains atop the team leaderboard at 26-under par after an 11-under par 277 on Saturday. Arizona State (277-276/553) is second at 23-under par, followed by the Tide (284-272/556). Host Vanderbilt (275-283/558) is two shots back in fourth at 18-under par. Northwestern (285-280/565) rounds out the top five at 11-under par.
The final round of the 54-hole tournament will begin at 8 a.m. CT on Sunday. Alabama will be paired with Arkansas and Arizona State in round three. Angelica Moresco will be first off the tee for the Tide at 9:40 a.m. CT, followed by Cheyenne Knight at 9:50, Kristen Gillman at 10:00, Lakareber Abe at 10:10 and Lauren Stephenson at 10:20.
