Alabama Women’s Golf Opens 2017-18 Season at Mason Rudolph Championship on Friday

Crimson Tide returns to scene of last season’s record-setting performance
TUSCALOOSA Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team opens the 2017-18 season at the Mason Rudolph Championship, Sept. 15-17 at the par-72, 6,335-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course.
Alabama's line-up will include senior Lakareber Abe, juniors Cheyenne Knight and Lauren Stephenson, sophomore Kristen Gillman and freshman Angelica Moresco, who will be making her collegiate debut.
Alabama has won the last two Mason Rudolph team and individual championships. The Tide turned in a record-setting performance at last year's tournament with a 39-under par weekend that included a 25-under par final round, both of which are school records. Individually, Cheyenne Knight earned medalist honors with a UA-record 14-under par 202 (68-67-67). Lakareber Abe also posted an Alabama-single record nine-under par 63 on the final day of the tournament.
Teams competing in this year's Mason Rudolph Championship include Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona State, Auburn, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Clemson, Houston, Middle Tennessee, North Carolina, Northwestern, South Carolina, UCF, Vanderbilt and Virginia.
Preseason Rankings
The Crimson Tide were ranked No. 3 in the Golfweek Preseason Top 30 released Sept. 5. The Tide is one of seven SEC teams to appear in the preseason rankings. Joining UA in the top 30 are Arkansas (8), Georgia (9), South Carolina (13), Texas A&M (15), Florida (18) and Auurn (30).
Individually, junior Cheyenne Knight (4), sophomore Kristen Gillman (7) and junior Lauren Stephenson (16) are ranked among the top 30 in Golfweek's preseason individual rankings.
