Sophomore honored for performance in Tide’s victory over Fresno State
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama redshirt sophomore offensive tackle Matt Womack was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The conference award is the first of Womack's career.
Womack did not allow a sack or quarterback hurry and played a penalty-free game in the Tide's 41-10 win over Fresno State on Saturday. He graded out at 90 percent and recorded three knockdown blocks against Bulldog defenders.
The Hernando, Miss., native helped open holes for an Alabama running game that finished with 305 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Jalen Hurts recorded his fourth career 100-yard rushing game with a career-high 154 yards and freshman Najee Harris added 70 yards on 13 carries to pace the running backs.
