
Alabama Track & Field’s Takyera Roberson and Jaimie Robinson to Compete for Team USA at Pan American U20 Championships this Weekend

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama sophomore Takyera Roberson and incoming freshman Jaimie Robinson will be competing for the United States at the 2017 Pan American U20 Track & Field Championships July 21-23 in Trujillo, Peru.
The duo qualified for the meet with victories at the U.S. Junior Track & Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif. in June. Roberson, who earned First-Team All-America honors as a member of Alabama's record-setting 4x100-meter relay this season, won the women's 400 meters at the U.S. juniors in 51.35 to punch her ticket to Peru. Her time is the fifth fastest in school history and the second fastest in the world this season in the Under-20 age group. Robinson won the triple jump in Sacramento with a jump of 43-10 ½ (13.37m). Robinson's mark is tied for the 11th-best in the world at the Under-20 level this season.
The Pan American Championships get underway Friday morning at Estadio Chan Chan in Trujillo. Roberson will run in the semifinals of the women's 400 meters at 10:20 a.m. CT on Friday. The top-eight finishers will advance to that afternoon's final round, which will be run at 3:10 p.m. CT. Roberson will also run on the U.S. 4x400-meter relay in Sunday's semifinals at 10 a.m. CT. The relay final will take place at 1 p.m. CT. Robinson will compete in the finals of the women's triple jump at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday.
