
Alabama Women’s Basketball to take on NC State and Elon in Puerto Rico Clasico

Crimson Tide will travel to Fajardo, Puerto Rico for Thanksgiving tournament
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Highlighting Alabama women's basketball's 2017-18 non-conference schedule is a trip to Fajardo, Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Clasico, which will run Nov. 22-26. While on the island, the Crimson Tide is slated to face a pair of NCAA tournament teams from a season ago in NC State and Elon. All games will be played at the Fajardo Arena.
"This is going to be a great opportunity for us to play two teams that finished with top 40 RPIs and both made the NCAA tournament," said Alabama head coach Kristy Curry. "We know this will be a great early season challenge in a unique environment, and we are looking forward to that challenge."
The Wolfpack ended the 2016-17 season with a 23-9 record overall and a 12-4 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference to earn a final ranking of No. 17 in the nation. Alabama and NC State will be meeting for the sixth time in the series and first since 2011. The Tide holds a slight 3-2 advantage, however the Wolfpack came away victorious in the last meeting, 79-57.
The Phoenix finished with a 27-7 overall record, winning the Colonial Athletic Association championship and making the program's first appearance in the NCAA tournament. November's matchup will be the second between Alabama and Elon. The Tide won the first game by a score of 74-49 on Dec. 18, 1998 in Las Cruces, N.M.
