Connor Oslin and Anton McKee both earned the prestigious scholarship, giving Alabama swimming and diving eight since Mark Rourke earned the Tide's first in 1991
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Two of the most decorated swimmers in Alabama history, Connor Oslin and Anton McKee, added to their resumes this week when both received NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships.
Both men are multiple time All-Americans and CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, with McKee competing at two Olympics (2012 and 2016) and Oslin leading off Alabama's first NCAA championship effort in a relay (2016 NCAA 200 medley relay). With these latest honors, Alabama swimming and diving has now won eight of the prestigious scholarship.
Oslin and McKee both graduated from The University of Alabama in May, with Oslin carrying a 3.9 grade point average in biology (pre-med) while McKee earned a 4.0 in management information systems.
In addition to their prowess in the classroom, both were Southeastern Conference Champions, individually and as part of relays, and both posted runner-up finishes in their specialties at the NCAA championships. They also helped lead Alabama to three consecutive top-10 national finishes, marking the first time the Tide has posted a trio of top-10 finishes in a row since 1981-83.
The Crimson Tide was the only Division I school to have two student-athletes earn men's NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships for the winter period. Alabama gymnast Keely McNeer earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship on the women's side of the slate, making Alabama the only Division I school to earn three postgraduate scholarships during the winter.
Overall, Alabama has earned four NCAA postgraduate scholarships during the 2016-17 fall and winter selection periods, with SEC Volleyball Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Year Krystal Rivers earning one earlier in the academic year. The Crimson Tide has garnered 16 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships over the past four years with the spring scholarships still to be awarded.
The one-time non-renewable scholarships of $7,500 are awarded three times a year corresponding to each sport season (fall, winter and spring). Each sports season there are 29 scholarships available for both men and women for use in an accredited graduate program.
