TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama rowing led all NCAA Division-I programs with 14 student-athletes on the 2017 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar-Athlete list, it was announced Wednesday.
The 14 award winners on this year's list marks the third-straight season in which the Crimson Tide has posted 10 or more student-athletes on the list and fourth time overall. All 14 earned Academic All-Big 12 honors earlier this season and helped lead Alabama to a program-best 3.524 team GPA for the spring semester.
Alabama's 2017 honorees include Cheyenne Adams, Charlotte Adkins, Tayla Cabana, Raien Emery, Claire Estep, Lauren Fehr, Maggie Gillespie, Danielle Kem, Nicole Lane, Emily Navin, Jennifer Parker, Rachel Sowell, Shannon Sweatt and Lindsey Taylor.
To qualify as a CRCA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete with a 3.5 cumulative career GPA must be in at least their sophomore year of eligibility and have rowed in a minimum of 75 percent of the team's 2017 spring races or in the school's regional conference event.
