Eleven recorded above a 3.0 grade point average for the semester
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team earned its highest team grade point average on record, achieving a 3.285 for the spring 2017 semester. Of the 14 student-athletes, 11 posted above a 3.0 individually.
"The three areas we strive to succeed in are the classroom, the court and the community," said Alabama head coach Kristy Curry, "We had the most successful season on the court in two decades at Alabama, spent many hours as a team volunteering in the Tuscaloosa community and hit it out of the park in the classroom to finish off the year. Jon Dever, Jared Jaudon and our entire academic support staff do a fantastic job with all of our student-athletes, and we would like to thank them for all of their efforts. The pieces of the puzzle are all starting to fall into place, and I could not be more proud of our team for this accomplishment."
The Crimson Tide won 22 games during the 2016-17 season marking its highest win total since the 1997-98 campaign. Alabama advanced to the quarterfinals of both the Southeastern Conference tournament and the Women's National Invitation Tournament. Individually, the Tide placed two on the SEC All-Freshman Team and had the AP SEC Newcomer of the Year in Jordan Lewis.
Alabama returns its entire squad for the 2017-18 year while adding a trio of transfers in Amber Richardson, DaiJia Ruffin and Jasmine Walker along with freshmen Ariyah Copeland and Jayana Sanders.
