The Crimson Tide welcomed Kylie Hosey and her family to Tuscaloosa on Friday afternoon
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head coach Wes Hart and the Alabama soccer team officially drafted ten-year-old Kylie Hosey through the Team IMPACT program, announced by Hart Friday afternoon.
Hosey comes to the Crimson Tide program from Helena, Ala. Kylie was joined on signing day by her grandparents, Joe and Pat Atchley. She was officially added to the Alabama roster following her signature of a national letter of intent provided to her and her parents by Hart.
In October of 2016, Kylie was diagnosed with Leukemia and began treatment immediately. Kylie is currently waiting to begin her fourth phase of treatment once her counts increase. She is taking oral chemotherapy, and in-patent chemo through an IV for three to five days every eight weeks.
As of today, Kylie has officially become a member of the Crimson Tide roster, and the Hosey family is now forever a part of the Alabama soccer family.
"Our family is so excited that Kylie has been given this opportunity to be on the women's soccer team at The University of Alabama," said Kylie's mother Becky Guthrie. "She loves soccer and this will definitely lift her spirits during her journey, even more so as she gets to spend more time with the team. Kylie is extremely grateful!"
