Alabama softball traveled north to Florence, Ala., for Wednesday's neutral-site contest against Lipscomb at the Florence Sportsplex. The teams battled blustery conditions but the Crimson Tide ultimately came out on top, 5-0.
Alabama scored two runs in the first inning and added some insurance in the sixth to post five runs on nine hits, including two-hit performances by Marisa Runyon, Peyton Grantham and Reagan Dykes. Sydney Littlejohn did her part in the circle, shutting down the Lipscomb offense with a career-high 14 strikeouts in the three-hit shutout, her sixth shutout of the season.
500 AT THE RHOADS HOUSE
- Alabama is just one win shy of its 500th win at Rhoads Stadium, the Tide's home field since 2000. Alabama owns a 499-77 (.866) all-time record at the field.
- With a 22-1 record at home this season, it marks the 17th time in 18 years at Rhoads Stadium that Alabama has earned at least 20 wins. The Tide has won at least 30 games at home seven times, including a record 39 wins in 2007.
- All-time, Alabama is hitting .327 at Rhoads Stadium, out-hitting its opponents 4,679-2,726 and out-scoring teams 3,704-1,149.
- The stadium's home-field advantage is due in large part to the consistent fan attendance. Alabama has led the nation in attendance nine-straight seasons, including season attendance totals above 90,000 in three of the last five years. Last season, Alabama became the first team in NCAA history to average over 3,000 fans per game during the regular season.
ZEROES IN THE RUN COLUMN
Wednesday's 5-0 victory over Lipscomb marked the 20th shutout of the season for Alabama. This surpasses last year's total of 17 and ties the 20 earned during the 2015 season. The Tide is now six shy of tying the single-season record.
