Alabama Men’s Tennis Highlighted in ITA Singles and Doubles Weekly Rankings

The Crimson Tide has two singles players and one doubles team that are nationally ranked
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team had two singles players and one doubles pair earn national rankings this week, announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Tuesday.
The Crimson Tide (11-16, 2-10 SEC) has collected 56 wins in singles play since beginning the dual match season, and it has registered 34 victories in doubles play.
Sophomore anchor Mazen Osama moved up one spot to earn a No. 26 national ranking in singles play, marking his eighth week in the rankings since beginning the dual match season. Osama has 11 wins in singles play since starting the spring season, and he has registered eight wins over nationally ranked opponents this year.
Freshman Thibault Cancel achieved a No. 103 national ranking in singles after collecting 11 wins in the dual match season. Cancel has been nationally ranked seven times since the start of the spring season, and he has registered five wins over nationally ranked singles opponents.
Osama and sophomore Spencer Richey remain nationally ranked No.14 in doubles play after collecting a team-best 12 wins since the start of the spring season, with all matches coming from the top court.
Alabama went 1-1 last weekend to conclude the 2017 regular season portion of its schedule. The Tide lost a 4-2 decision to Tennessee on Thursday morning before going on to shut out Jacksonville State, 5-0, later that evening.
The Tide will be back in action on Wednesday, April 26, when it is set to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores at 10 a.m. CT in the first round of the 2017 SEC Tournament on the campus of The University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn.
