Alabama Women’s Tennis Kicks off SEC Home Slate this Weekend

Crimson Tide set to host No. 13 Georgia and No. 16 Tennessee on Friday and Sunday, respectively
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team hosts a pair of matches this weekend at the Alabama Tennis Stadium marking the first Southeastern Conference contests at home this year. The Crimson Tide (6-6, 0-2 SEC) will take on No. 13 Georgia on Friday, March 10, under the lights at 6 p.m. CT. Alabama remains home for Sunday's match against No. 16 Tennessee, which will start at 1 p.m. CT.
Promotions:
Friday's contest will serve as this year's Kids Day. Free pizza will be available to kids 12 years old and under, and there will be an inflatable bounce house present during the match. Crimson Tide sweatbands, posters and magnets will also be given away at the match.
Sunday's match is marketed as National Girl Scout Day. In honor of National Girl Scout Day, the Tide will be giving away free Girl Scout cookies to fans.
Last Time Out:
The then-No.34 ranked Alabama women's tennis team lost a pair of road matches in the state of Mississippi last weekend to officially kick off the SEC portion of this year's schedule. The Tide lost a match that went the distance against then-No. 17 Ole Miss, 4-3, to begin league play on Friday, before falling short to then-No. 33 Mississippi State in a 4-3 thriller on Sunday afternoon to conclude the first weekend of conference play.
Alabama Notes:
The Alabama women's tennis team earned a No. 46 national ranking announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday. The Tide now has two singles players and one doubles team nationally ranked.
Alabama boasts a 32-22 mark in singles play since beginning the dual match season and has an impressive 18-11 record in doubles play.
Senior anchor Erin Routliffe earned a national ranking in singles play for the third time this season, as she came in this week at No. 59. Routliffe has a 6-2 record in singles play since beginning the dual match season.
Sophomore standout Andie Daniell remains undefeated in singles play so far this season at 9-0, as she is 1-0 and 8-0 from the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots, respectively. Daniell's strong start to the spring season earned her a No. 124 ranking in this week's set of rankings, marking the first time she has earned a national singles ranking since beginning the dual match season.
Routliffe and freshman Maddie Pothoff teamed up to achieve a No. 25 national ranking in doubles play after posting an imposing 7-1 record to start the dual match season.
Georgia Notes:
Georgia enters Friday's match with a 7-3 overall record including a 1-1 mark in league play. Last weekend, the Bulldogs defeated Kentucky in a 4-1 decision, before falling short to Vanderbilt, 4-2, to conclude the weekend. Georgia has four singles players and one doubles tandem nationally ranked. Kennedy Shaffer and Eleni Christofi are ranked No. 58 in doubles play, while Christofi, Ellen Perez, Shaffer and Caroline Brinson are ranked No. 18, No. 55, No. 63 and No. 86 in singles, respectively.
Tennessee Notes:
Tennessee currently has a 13-3 overall record including a 0-2 mark in conference play. Last weekend, the Volunteers lost to Vanderbilt, 6-1, before dropping 4-1 decision to Kentucky on Sunday. Tennessee has one doubles pair and one singles player that nationally ranked. Eve Repic and Brittany Lindl are ranked No. 74 in doubles play, while Lindl also maintains a No. 51 ranking in singles.
Series History:
When Alabama and Georgia face each other on Friday it will mark the 46th time the two programs have met, dating back to the 1975 season. The Bulldogs hold a 41-4 advantage in the series. Last year, Georgia defeated Alabama in a 6-1 decision. The last time the Tide topped the Bulldogs was during the 2015 season, when Alabama won a 5-2 decision over Georgia.
When the Tide and the Volunteers square off against each other on Sunday it will mark the 47th time the two schools have faced each other. Tennessee holds a 27-19 advantage in the series. Last year, Alabama lost a 4-2 decision to Tennessee. The last time the Tide defeated the Volunteers was during the 2015 season when Alabama shut out Tennessee, 4-0.
