Alabama Men’s Tennis Q&A: Ritchie Kruunenberg

RollTide.com will be posting Q&A's of each member on this year's Alabama men's tennis team so fans can get to know the members of our Crimson Tide family. The ninth Q&A is with Ritchie Kruunenberg, a talented senior from Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands. Kruunenberg has collected nine doubles wins and four singles victories since arriving to the Capstone.
Q: What was your first visit to campus like?
A: The weather was beautiful and I thought campus was very pretty. I was impressed by the amazing facilities as well.
Q: What surprised you most about Alabama?
A: The football games and the humidity.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your hometown?
A: My friends and family for sure!
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Tuscaloosa?
A: Taco Mama or Surin.
Q: What is your favorite tennis memory?
A: There are so many, but clinching the doubles point against Washington, Purdue and Troy are my favorites from this year!
Q: Who inspired you most in tennis?
A: Brenda Schultz McCarthy.
Q: When did playing tennis in college become a goal for you?
A: The summer before my senior year in high school. I played mixed doubles at a local tournament and the girl played for Virginia Tech and she told me about it.
Q: What song pumps you up to play?
A: R Kelly - Ignition gives me good vibes.
Q: What is your favorite movie made before you were born?
A: Home Alone and Richie Rich, because I look like the little guy.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: I'm more of a Netflix or Hulu type of person.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: I really want to be Erin Routliffe's hitting partner when she's top 10 in the world.
Q: If you could live in a book, which book would you live in?
A: I honestly haven't read a book in the last 5 years.
Q: What is your favorite hobby outside of tennis?
A: EAT!
Q: If you could meet any person in the world who would it be?
A: Genie Bouchard and I would take her on a date.
Q: If you were playing a pro circuit what grand slam would you want to win most?
A: Wimbledon.
Q: What do you like to hear from fans when they are cheering for you?
A: Let's gooooooooooooooooooooo Kruun!
Q: What are some goals you look to achieve this spring season?
A: To really enjoy my last season as a college tennis player!
Q: If you weren't playing tennis what sport would you play?
A: Since most people think I'm a basketball player, I would say basketball or volleyball because of my height.
Q: Who would win an arm wrestling competition on the team?
A: Not me! Thibault or Langford would have a good chance.
Q: What is your favorite holiday?
A: Christmas, great time to be all together with the family.
Q: If you could give one message to your fans what would it be?
A: Come out to Senior Day on Saturday, April 1st to see Hayes and me at our last home matches!
